Top 2 New Years Resolutions for Wine Lovers

Aug 23, 2024

The New Year is nearly here and with that comes thoughts surrounding New Year’s resolutions. Don’t worry none of these resolutions involve a gym membership so don’t tune me out just yet, rather each one will suit a true wine lover at heart.

Quality over Quantity

Dry January is a fad that appeals to people’s health conscience that typically takes a dive during the holidays with lots of drinking and sweet treats at every event. I’m not suggesting dry January in the slightest, mostly because it’s definitely not feasible for this winemaker but, what I am suggesting is drinking quality wine over quantity of wine. Specifically, take your weekly or monthly wine spend and spend the same amount but, simply buy better quality wine. So, if you’re accustomed to buying the two-buck chuck at Trader Joe’s, get better quality wine and enhance your tastebuds while you’re at it. This resolution will provide a variety of benefits such as decreasing your overall alcohol consumption and trying new wines you otherwise wouldn’t have.

Explore a Wine Region

Have you ever visited a vineyard? I love when we visit the wine regions and vineyards where our grapes are grown. When you visit a vineyard you get to know the region and gain a better understanding of a specific wine and why it is how it is. My first choice is to visit local Spokane wineries, getting to know your local artisans. Then a trip local in Washington to a little farther in Napa Valley or even further to Italy. A must-have have on a wine lovers New Years Resolution list is expanding their travel in 2022.

Whatever your resolutions for 2022 I wish you all a Happy New Year!

Cheers,
Natalie
