Being a winemaker is a pretty fascinating profession! So, we asked Natalie a few questions about her job and what she loves about Latah Creek Winery. Check it out!
Q: What’s your favorite part about your job?
A: “The thing I love most about my job is probably blending wine. A small change in the amounts of wine can have drastic changes on the flavor profile. I find this fascinating! It then becomes an art form, tweaking and tinkering with varying amounts of wine.”
Q: What’s your favorite wine you produce?
A: “I would say our Mike’s Reserve Blend is my favorite wine we produce, because that is where our winemaking really shines. It uses my love for blending!”
Q: What’s your favorite thing to tell people when talking about our winery?
A: “I love that we are a family winery who really cares about the people drinking our wine. We want to not only make people’s experience with us amazing, but also help others learn how to grow with wine. Whether that is trying new varietals, or stepping out of their comfort zone to try a particular food with a particular wine.”
Q: What’s the best / most memorable wine you’ve ever had, whether Latah Creek or something else?
A: “On my 30th birthday we opened up a Merlot from 1983, the year I was born. It was my dad’s first vintage of Merlot. We were at Clinkerdaggers for dinner and my dad had to open the wine because the cork was falling apart, which is typical for wines that old. It was one of the best wines I’ve ever had and on such a memorable day!”
